Introduction
Screen Candy is a fun and unique iOS app designed to create eye-catching wallpapers by mixing and matching beautiful patterns and has been used to customize over 100,000 devices. I chose this category to leverage both of my design and development skill sets and create a best in class experience.

With a collection of vibrant patterns and an intuitive UX, users mix three wallpapers into one, beautiful design. Screen Candy is filled with microinteractions that wow users and powerful features for endless customization without sacrificing quality.
Rules are rules
Creating designs is effortless with Screen Candy because every wallpaper matches perfectly, no matter its partner. Achieving this was my biggest challenge and I created a strict aesthetic guideline shared by each pattern to accomplish it. This included a playful personality, monochromatic color palette, and a shared level of detail, depth, and light source.
Money talks
I developed Screen Candy from the ground up in Objective-C and created a layered, multi-directional view manager with a premium feel. To improve the usability and value of the app, I developed an in-app home screen preview, photo editor, and gesture based UI. All of the final patterns were created with Adobe Illustrator and applied to a variety of companion products sold on Society6. Finally, I created screencandyapp.com, as well as all marketing materials used to promote its release.

I learned an incredible amount creating Screen Candy and have been forever changed by the experience. The countless hours spent refining my skills, designs and programs have given me a genuine appreciation for hard work and the incredible amount of work it takes to create something of value.
